Great microscope. I was looking around to buy something handheld that would let me see the bugs invading my greenhouse. It's helped me identify the mealybugs and treat them. It's marketed for kids but fun for adults too. Great for indoor gardening and plant care. For the price I will be using it a lot in the future. Great value for your money.Let's you zoom in to what I believe to be 40x magnification, see your skin, and fibers. Come with the option to add memory and has an integrated light.
I have been disappointed in other digital screen toy microscope as I have found that they have too much magnification to be generally useful on a macro world. This one is quite suitable regarding magnification level and fun to use. It has multiple illumination levels. I needed to play with the up and down arrow buttons to determine that, indeed, multiple magnification levels were also possible. It was hard to determine since little discernible image difference was made. However, the image also did not pixelate so I would call that a win.It fits well in hand. Focus knob was intuitive and good quality. Image quality is satisfyingly sharp and colorful. It came with an installed wrist strap. I think it is highly functional for both children and adults. The body is held together with two small screws. Those screws are covered with 1/4 (or so) rubber plugs. One of those plugs was loose in the box and is held to the body via a friction fit. As such, it might be construed as a potential choking hazard to infants. If concerned, they can easily be removed from the instrument. It has a port for, but does not come with, a memory card. There is a clear objective lens protective shroud with provisions to affix slides. No slides are provided. I found that the friction fit of the shroud made it difficult to remove. Once off, it would be easily lost.
My daughter is very interested in botany; in the summer, if the weather is nice, she spends most of her day in the garden working with soil, leaves, and little insects. This handheld kids microscope (with a 2 screen and USB-C charging) has been a perfect fit for her. She can immediately examine what she finds outdoors and even take photos and videos. The manual focus wheel makes it easy to get a clear image. She can see leaf veins, flower pollen, and even the tiny patterns on a ladybugs shell. The magnification levels are impressive (advertised range 200xC1000x, with 500x listed in the specs). In practice, its more than enough to open up a whole new world for kids. The 2 IPS screen is bright and clear, and its easy to see even in sunlight.Very lightweight (0.55 lb), so its perfect for small hands. Comes with a thick neck strap, which keeps it safe even while running around. The ergonomic grip and bright orange color make it easy to hold and find in a bag. With the 2MP camera, kids can take both photos and videos. My daughter loves recording what she discovers and then watching it back in the evening. Its like a little field journal for her.Powered by a 600 mAh rechargeable battery that charges via USB-C. We havent measured the exact runtime, but heres the key point: since the very first charge, shes used it many times and we still havent had to charge it a second time. For kids use, thats plenty.Shes explored plants, insects, soil, prepared slides, and even fish scales in our aquarium. Its designed for ages 5C13, but for a nature-loving child like mine, its the perfect mix of toy and learning tool. Its fun while also serving as a great STEM educational tool, helping foster a love for science. The 2 screen is perfect for portability, though for very detailed work a larger display might help. Manual focus takes a little practice, but kids pick it up quickly. This has become both a toy and an educational tool for my daughter. Lightweight, rechargeable, portable, and with photo/video capability, it has completely transformed the time she spends exploring the garden. We havent even had to recharge it a second time yet, which shows how long the battery lasts. I can highly recommend it for any child who loves nature.
I got this to have at home as an entertainment gadget for my niece and nephew who are interested in bugs and it was a hit. Their initial reaction to being able to see bugs and items so close up was priceless. They loved it. It was a great way to spend quality time and educate them on different bugs and other things. The magnification is quite good and clear even at a high magnification level. I was impressed given I thought this was going to be more of a toy rather than a real microscope. We looked at leaves, skin, hair strands and we were all in awe.The function options are great with being able to easily turn it on, record to internal memory (which holds about 15-20 images), or record to micro SD card. The knob for focusing is large and easy to use.At the $26-30 range, this microscope is a good value and would make a thoughtful, fun, and education gift for kids in the 5-12yrs of age range, although it was fun for the adults here too.
Got this for my grandkids and they are obsessed with it! Science is such an important subject to get kids interested in and this is the perfect start. The microscope itself is small enough for young kids and so far has been pretty durable. The best part is that they can both look at the screen together so they can take turns holding it and run around together looking at things. The magnification is really good especially at the price point. The price makes this very affordable also so you don't panic every time they pick it up which means they will use it more. It does a good job of focusing and peaks their interest in how things work in nature especially when they look at bugs and see things they never knew. It comes with a neck strap, so they don't leave it laying around and they take it on all our walks now in case the see something new to look at! It's light weight so taking it on hikes isn't an issue and small enough to tuck away in a drawer when not in use. This is one of the best educational items I've seen because they don't get bored with it!
